Horizons for Green Development is a Jordanian non-governmental organization that was founded in 2014 with the goal of empowering communities through sustainable development, awareness, advocacy, and capacity-building. Horizons has worked with 101 schools and 50,000 students in the northern governorates to provide vocational training to unemployed Syrian and Jordanian youth while also promoting inclusive education and green jobs.
Horizons also implemented advocacy and awareness campaigns on green economy principles across Jordan in collaboration with civil society, private sector, and media actors as part of multiple donor-funded projects (including GIZ, EU, SIDA, and the Netherlands Government). Horizons recently implemented a CfW program with the IUCN that involved 142 vulnerable Syrians and Jordanians in dam protection works in the north, providing training in technical skills, job safety, and labor rights.
